I'm an electronics hobbiest.
I purchased a used Kicker CX660.5 that was supposed to work but did not.
The red protect light comes on and stays on when power is applied without the remote wire connected.
I would like to attempt repair. Any help available? Schematics?
Thank you

Help yes, schematics are not available for proprietary reasons. I'm a Kicker repair tech.
Have you applied remote turn on? If so what happens?
Post pics of the board.
What experience do you have with component level repair? Do you have test equipment, such as oscilloscope, multimeters, power supply, signal generator or test tones.
If you have little or no experience the link below is a good resource that Perry Babin created. You will find him on this forum.

Im repairing a Kicker CXA660.5 and I wanted to know what parts (FETs or push/pulls) are used for Q15/16 and Q501 and 502. I could not read the part numbers due to burn damage and I ordered some N channel FETs to try in it based on another Kicker amp I had but they are not working, Im getting very high current pulling and heat from the Q501/Q502 now. I assume I just got the wrong parts. The amp turned on before the repairs and the AB front/rear channels all work even though the protect light was on. I just needed to know the parts or if possible the type of parts (N or P channel FETs, or AB push/pull transistors NPN/PNP and the parameters that need to be met.
Thank you. I have some IRF3205 FETs coming for it. I could not find the AOT412 in stock other than on amazon, ebay and alli express and I really dont trust those places. I am looking for a suitable replacement for that one currently like maybe CSD19534KCS or STP80NF10 just want to make sure the params are acceptable to be a replacement. I will take a look at that gate driver too. Thanks for your help.

We use this AOT412 substitute IRFB4510PbF as a drop in replacement for another Kicker amp.

Thank you. I will order the IRFB4510s, I checked out IC8 and it seems to be working. I see an IC2 close to that area on the board and it looks like it might be doing the same thing. Are there more than one MP18021 on the board? I am trying to read the numbers on the following chips and they are not legible anymore like some chemical or something got on them and defaced the print to where its barely visible.
IC506 (SOIC8)
IC507 (SOIC8)
IC2 (SOIC8)
IC3 (SOIC8)
IC508 (SOIC8) this looks like a 20957S.
I assume at least one or more of these are gate drives, boost converters and buffers.

Im coming up with the following parts for the ones I had in question. I was able to make out a few of the part numbers but not all of them so some of this is a guess. I will list the ones you already stated as well and current status on them when I tested things out with a scope and meter.
IC2 appears to be an MP1802 which seems to be working
IC3 looks like a 393 or LM393 analog comparator. I cant tell if its getting valid outputs/inputs but vcc and ground, I have dc values on 1 2 3, 5 6 7 and I have at least one ac scope signal on pin 1 and 5.
IC8 (you already told me what this is) is working.
IC506 I was able to read it and its a JRC 4580 opamp, has about 17.5V +/- vcc/vdd powers and no signals out of 1/7 or into 2/3 or 5/6 but I assume its because I have no audio feed in, no speaker connected and no FETs yet installed for the AOT412 replacements (going to use the IRFB4510 FETs you recommended). So I think its working but has no signal feeds yet.
IC507 (cant make out that part marking very well but looks like it says 311 and MZ030) I dont really know what that part is or does so far.
IC508 was verified to be an IRS20957S audio drive IC which I have worked with before. This chip appears to have no output but I cant get a signal at the inputs on my scope so I dont think its bad but it does not seem to be getting signal from the PWM.
I scanned over all the pins on the min card PO8246CX65 and seems to have signals of good square wave pulses on several different pins and dc on other pins so I believe that is working and probably what should feed my base modulation for all gate drives.
This stuff is so much easier to do with a schematic like at work but I get it, that stuff cant be handed out from a factory. At this point I know my entire 4 channel sections working fine, My primary side of the sub channel seems to be working fine with good FETs installed for Q15/16, but I dont think I am getting the appropriate drive signals for my step up side rails for the output at Q501/502. I have the source and drains and gates getting something just not looking right.
Q502 has Gate: -37.xx, Drain: 0.638, Source: -37.xx in DC volts on meter and Im picking up a short small pulse on the gate line every few seconds with the scope.
Q501 on a meter has on the Gate about .638, on the drain about 37V, one the source about .638 and I see that same hunting pulse on this side that pulses every few seconds but on the drain line instead of the gate.
I dont have the IRFB4510 parts yet but I wanted to make sure this is what you would expect to see if there are no FETs installed on the output rails. I also found R29, 30, 31, 32 (2.2ohm) were reading very high around 5.5Kohm each so I ordered new ones for that as well.

this was my first repair on a kicker amp so im trying to get my bearings. I do like the fact that they took real-estate up on both sides of the PCB cause it makes a big amp in a small package which was why I wanted to fix this for my daughter. She doesn't want lots of stuff in the hatch and I can mount this amp under her seat and just run the speaker wires back to the sub box so we can remove her box when she needs to use the space at times.
I have quite a bit of experience with working on PC boards (over 25 years actually) and I have quite a bit of experience with other audio amplifiers both home and mobile ones like Fosgate, Phoenix gold, PPI, Alpine, Pioneer, Deaf Bonce, Sony, Sundown, Skar, American Bass, Orion, HiFonics and JBL. Some of those are similar to others in their design work but this one tells me that Kicker is probably somewhat of a stand alone when it comes to design or I just have not come across something similar yet. Again, I really appreciate your assistance.
