Well I toasted a pair of woofers in my KSF 8.5’s. Speakers are discontinued,? Where might I find some replacements? Bandwidth 36hz to 20khz, sensitivity of 94 dB. Crossover of 2.2khz , 8 ohm. Is improving to a better woofer my plan or do I trash these and find a nice 3 way speaker somewhere? Any and all help , thanks for your time
There is a catch with Klipsch's specs or let us not get carried away with embelished figures. I would put my bet on Peerless by Tymphany 830869 8" Nomex Cone HDS Woofer as a replacement, possibly better than the original, currently priced at PE just over 62 bucks/piece. Surely a well spent money. In order to maximize the performance, one should check the whole speaker thoroughly and modify to suit. Before ordering any, let us make sure the original unit was an 8 ohm nominal.
edit: Klipsch woofer K-1054-KV, suspicious 4, if this is a 4 ohm unit, then why specify nominal loudspeaker impedance as 8 ohm. I don't know.

Someone owning these that still work ok could measure voice coil dc resistance. That being too complicated, a dc measurement with a multimeter at the speaker terminal would present a summation of two dcr's (woofer low pass inductor+voice coil). Normally an 8 ohm unit measures 5-6 ohm dcr + 0.5 inductor's dcr.
I wouldn't worry about the 4 in K-1054-KV. The speakers dual woofer sibling Klipsch KSF 10.5 contains a K-1063-KV as stated in Klipsch Synergy Series KSF-C5 Owner's Manual & Warranty (Page 8 of 12) . An impedance of 3 ohms is uncommon, so the last digit is not likely to specify the impedance.
When picking the new woofer, make sure the woofer has a similar (real life) sensitivity and impedance and that it is happy to run up to the crossover frequency of 2.2 kHz. There are not a lot of woofers that meet these requirements. I agree with the suggestion by Lojzek. Other woofers that seem to be suited as well:
$26 Visaton W200-8 if slightly lesser performance is acceptable Visaton W200-8 8" Woofer 8 Ohm
$68 Peerless by Tymphany P22WO03-08 Peerless by Tymphany P22WO03-08 8" Poly Cone Woofer 8 Ohm
