Hey guys, I'm new here and don't know much about what I'm doing, but I have a question. I recently was given a "broken" Korg SP-100 but they lost the original power supply. It needs a 12V DC power supply. I used multiple 12 V power supplies and none worked, however I accidentally grabbed a 9V AC supply and used it and it worked. I've always been told that running AC into a DC device is bad, but it worked. Can anyone explain this and also is it harmful for the Keyboard? Thanks
Probably the DC was the wrong polarity. Often there is a protection diode in the input of the device, which in your case, is converting the AC into DC.
Is there a hum sound from the output ?
