Hello
I have a chance to acquire a pair of Linn Sara Isobaric - the active version, stand mounted.
The deal seems fair but its a trade so I can not say they cost "£xx". As i will be looking to pass them on ASAP can anyone give me a reasonable estimate of what I am likely to get for them £££??
They are good condition, fully working.
Thanks for any and all help!

The crucial item here is; do they come with the active cross over??? - Probably a Naim Naxo 2/4 ????
If the Naxo is not with the Saras they are not going to be fully 'active' anytime soon. 2/4s for Sara are like unicorn poo but far far rarer.
No cross overs take the value down quiet a bit - How do you know they ARE active Saras ???
We need more info here.
Thanks

IN fairness i dont - I was told they are active!?!?
I think this is on the basis of an XLR connector on the back of them and instructions re connection for passive and active but i have not had them in my hands yet.
There are certainly no external active crossovers or anything like that. I assume the "active" refers to the ability to use an active crossover, not that they have built in amplification?
They are the flat fronted version with the logo on the front which i think makes them the Sara9?
They are certainly intriguing - i have committed to getting them and i can not wait to find out what they sound like!
I paid for a month subscription to the "audio Blue Book" and that lists them at about $600 - $700.

They are passive. Not active - They can be used in a pseudo active mode but I doubt they are purely active. Not unless you remove the passive Xovers - A big job to do.
They are worth anything from £250GBP to £400GBP ( or more ) depending on condition.
Run them with a decent amp - Minimum a Naim Nap 250 ( Bi amp with Sara9s if you can) or even better a Nap 300 (or two !) and very good source CDX2 etc and you'll never change them - Only the Original Isobariks are better. I doubt you'll find any speaker of any vintage old or brand new that are as good size for size. Fantastic Bass if you drive and set them up right. Top end as good as any with the Hiq tweeter. Mid is only weakness and it's not bad !
You must must use top quality amplification though.
Don't expect miracles from anything but the best amplification. They sound excellent with decent Krell amps too.
Don't expect anything if you use a a Nad 3020 or Pioneer A400 that some might be tempted to partner with.
GIGO basically.

Hi,
Linn Sara's are a flawed design. Bass and treble may be good
but the midrange is a mess, and that it where most music lives.
Add to the fact they are horrible to drive and your looking at
a speaker only a hairshirt masochist could fall in love with.
If you want a cult British speaker to drool over I'd say Naim SBL.
rgds, sreten.

Well - just an update. They have failed to turn up for 3 or is it 4 days straight so im guessing he has:
Dropped one (or both)
Seen an ad on the web for $$$$$$
Thinks Im going to make a killing on them
Sold them to some Bulgarian chap for $$$$
For me the English speakers to drool over are the Wilson Benesch Square 2's I have - but in not entirely sure i did not buy them because of the impeccable finish and they are based where i come form.
Thanks to everyone who helped - if they do ever turn up ill update.
