Hellois.
Anyone have a list of beam tetrodes and pentodes with same pin-out as 6V6 etc? I want to try all different types but only the types fitting into the same socket. EL34 and the like as well (where screen must be connected to cathode externally).
Does that tube base with that pin out have a nomenclature? I can search myself if I know that name.
(I know they have different electrical characteristics, and that is the point.)
Thanks

The base of these is type 7AC, as can be seen under the pin diagrams on tube data sheets.Hellois.

A search for 7AC bases on a different tube data site: http://www.nj7p.org/Tubes/SQL/Tube_query.php?base=7AC
There may be other tubes that are mostly the same and will drop in with some minor changes like the EL34, which you mentioned.
Another such tube is the 6N6G which I use in PP in a Magnavox console amp that originally used 6V6s and in a SE amp that I built recently. Since it's internally biased, when using it you just eliminate the cathode resistor and connect the pin directly to ground.
Search for the RCA RC30 tube manual online, and go to page 596 for a list of tubes that have the 7AC base.
Here's my list: NOTE- some require a top cap instead of pin 3 for plate but that's not very hard to rig (8GT)

6CA7 is a Beam Power tube.
EL34 is a Pentode.
They both have the Beam Formers / Suppressor Grid, respectively, connected to Pin # 1.
Connect Pin # 1 to Pin # 8.
You will not find a more closely matched set of specifications/characteristics than the 6CA7 versus the EL34.
Plug and Play tube rolling.
Not the often Plug and Pray tube rolling game that some people try with vastly different tube characteristics.

SemperFi,
If you want to tube roll the 6CA7 and the EL34, I forgot the 3rd tube in that series:
The KT77 already has the Beam Formers tied to the Cathode, at pin # 8.
And you already tied Pin # 1 to Pin # 2 for the 6CA7 and EL34.
The KT77 specifications/characteristics are also extremely close to the 6CA7 and EL34.
That gives you the Trifecta opportunity for tube rolling.
Plug and Play.
Cathode bias will make this the easiest plug and play, because nothing has to be re-adjusted.
