I am looking to build a cool and powerful boombox for personal use. I haven't quite decided whether or not I want this to be battery powered, but I definitely want it to be loud enough to hear if I place on an outlet outside while throwing a football with my buddies during a 4th of July cookout.
I've got a good amount of money I'm willing to spend on this as well. Right now I'm looking at the following parts:
AMP: Lepai 168HA (with replacement 12V/5A power supply)
1x - Tweeter:

2x - Woofers:

I want to arrange the boombox so that the tweeter is in the center between the two woofers and that the amp is on top. Do any of you have tips on how to best wire this to get the most power/sound or do any of you have a good tutorial on crossover wiring you could direct me towards?

I'd suggest bigger and more sensitive mid-woofers, and two tweeters. And fit a high-pass filter before the amp so you don't waste headroom on frequencies the speakers can't reproduce. Try car speakers from a yard sale or abandoned car.
