Hello, I want to know if I can connect my luxman M-03 power amp to loudspeaker with an impedance of 4 ohms. I want to by the Monitor audio rx 8 speakers but they works on 4 ohms.
(There should be a specification near the speaker connectors).
The M-03 is a big 2x 200W powerhouse which can be BTL bridged for 700W of 8 Ohm deafening output.
So if it bridges at 8R it is probably suitable for 4R single ended.

Just found this on the 03
"Separate left and right channel attenuators are situated on the front panel and there is also a two-channel digital display of peak power level in Watts. A switch gives a choice of 1 or 3 seconds hold-time for the peak reading to make for easier monitoring under various programme conditions or, if you find the display distracting, it can be switched off. The power reading is related to the nominal loudspeaker impedance value selected on a three-position switch on the rear panel (4, 6 or 8 Ohms). Heavy duty terminals are fitted for two pairs of loudspeakers and front panel switches select speakers A, B, A + B or both off. "

On the near of the M-03 there is a swicth to change 4-6 or 8 ohms, so I understand that I must switch 4 for the Monitor Audio speakers because they works on 4 ohms, is it all righy? These speakers have an inpmut power of 175 Watts and the M-03 gives 240 Watts on 4 ohms, is this a problem? or it,s doesn,t matters?
Yes, use the 4 ohm switch position.
An amp with greater power than the speakers can handle usually is less of a problem than an underpowered unit, as the latter may clip and oscillate and take out your tweeters, possibly without you even noticing until it's too late. With generous power available, your speakers will be telling you when they are breaking a sweat quite audibly.
