Hello,
both cartridges I have heard in excellent quality, but not at the same time and at different arms. The Lyra Argo by Amazon belt drive record player with a Morch DP-6 tonearm and the Audio Technica AT33ANV at "SOLIST" (German brandname: Audio Konstruktion), also belt drive with SME V tonearm. Perhaps anyone have heard here both cartridges in the direct comparison on the same tonearm/record player turntable. Actually the question is, whether a Lyra "Argo" can be topped the AT33 from Audio Technica on the "SME-V" tonarm.

By the way - Audio Technica must actually now have almost 50-year anniversary. For 25-year anniversary was released the cartridge "ART 1" (Art1, ART-ONE ART-I). Accordingly, should now also appear a TA cartridge that moves at the border (leading edge) of what is possible.

You mean, what was possible. The best stuff existed in the 80ies.

To come to your question, there's a lot more to MC-cartridges than the arm and turntable. Critical is input impedance, just the same story as for MMs. And as it was/is for MMs that's the usually ignored part.

I agree. This means, I can only run a comparison test if both cartridges uses perfectly suited resistor load. And if the compliance of stylus suspension additional are different, even different tonarms might be necessary for checking the different sound character.
