I've been wanting to build these for quiet some time. I've never heard them but think they would be nice in my home theater/music room. They only thing is I don't know where to begin on the crossover. I thought about having one made or try to find an original. Has anyone had experience with this design or these speakers?
Hi
These speakers sound absolutely amazing in home cinema.
They have loads of dynamics and headroom.
These are examples of just how different real HomeCinema Speakers and 2-channel hifi-speakers are and should be.
I was also into cloning them once, but never got to it.
Here are my research results:
Miller & Kreisel S-150 type (THX certified)
Uses closed box, and foam thingies to control dispersion.
Bass: 2 x PEERLESS 130WR 26 72 PPB
Tweeter: 3 x PEERLESS 100DT SF FF WA (TV)
Cabinet: >10 l sealed box
Buildt-in amplifier: 2x150W RMS 4ohm
Crossover 1.2 kHz
Lowcut: 80Hz 12dB/oct (subwoofer taking over)
...on top of that I think I read somewhere that the tweeter in the middle is handling the high frequncies, and the two other tweeters are handling the high-mid, making the three tweeter arrangement a D'Appolito arrangement. That would also enhance the controlled dispersion that Home Cinema speakers really benefits from.

Thanks for all the info Nirk. I thought the tweets were a vifa model from what I found in the states. I'll look up what you have given me though. I found a supplier hear in Tennessee that bought up a lot of M&K stuff when they went out of bussiness or changed to just Kreisler. I have requested the crossovers and what ever else he has for this build but haven't heard back yet.
Vifa and Peerless are/were from the same company in Denmark. they could easily be sold as Vifas in one country and Peerless in another. Anyway: when you see that waveguide you have the right one.
