Nobody really knows. Some sort of modification that Magnepan is extremely tight-lipped about.

Hi Dave, I can't believe no one has improved1.7i Xover parts . Inside 3.6R there is (ferrite inductors/not all) electrolytic ,
and nylon sheath wiring , excellent design but so cheap parts . Now these 3.6R with new parts are a very serious high end speakers

Your coils are too close together! You have to change how two them are mounted on the board.
Lift the middle coil so it is vertical, its too close to the coil next to it and their external fields will interfere with each other If you keep both them horizontal . Same with the foil inductor on the right . Lay it on it’s side

I'm not sure what a modified 3.6 crossover has to do with your query. It's a completely different animal......much more complicated with larger value components.Hi Dave, I can't believe no one has improved1.7i Xover parts . Inside 3.6R there is (ferrite inductors/not all) electrolytic ,

Regarding 1.7 modifications......I know a number of fellas who have "improved" the 1.7 with expensive "audiophile" parts.
I think those sort of modifications pretty quickly don't make sense considering the availability of active crossovers and multi-amping schemes.
The photo's you've shown for the 3.6 crossovers are ridiculous and a complete waste of money........in my opinion.

Davey,
Most electronic crossovers are multiple ic opamps fed from ic regulators which aren’t transparent or high quality. Discrete tube or jfets are best with discrete regulators. It costs a lot to build or buy a transparent electronic crossover and then add good power amps. Also the original crossovers can contain notch filters or all pass networks that analog crossovers can’t duplicate and really good quality digital costs too much still. Higher quality passive crossover components ( Multicap film and foil, V Cap, Mundorf) have been a significant upgrade for me and my friends. If your value set doesn’t like them or you can’t hear the difference then save the money……

Yes I know, ! it's not final layout ; but must give some burning time before trying differents positions . Thank's for your help .Your coils are too close together! You have to change how two them are mounted on the board.
