Majestic Transformers, UK

On his web site Keith Snook has nice things to say about the replacement Quad II output transformers made by Majestic.

Has anyone bougth a set recently? My enquiries have not produced a response, so I wonder if anyone else has had better luck?

I had also seen the recommendation from Keith Snook, and I think they were name checked by Patrick Turner. I contacted them to have a price for a replica of the transformers used in a Brimar 25SP1 amp. They did manage to find the specification and quoted a price, which was fair.

My family lives in Dorset, and I was travelling through Poole on a weekday, so I thought I would pop by and see what they had available (and save some international postage and VAT to boot). The factory is actually tucked away in a residential area, so GPS is required! Unfortunately the Audio stuff seems to be mostly wound on request, and when I called they had nothing on the shelves. But it was nice to see the professional setup, and the large industrial transformers that must be their bread and butter.

I need to finish some projects, but hope to build that 25P1 at some point, and would use them if I did.

I've fitted them, and I have a Quad II choke on order right now. Very good products.

They are very busy ... keep trying.

Hello ejp. Will keep trying.

According to the Snook site, they make several variants of Quad Ii compatible output transformers. I was particularly interested in the variant with separate cathode windings for each output valve. Which one did you get and what did it cost?

Hello Hector. Have you emailed them? If so, how did they respond?

I emailed em just before Xmas about a custom tfmr, it took about a month or more to get a reply if I remember right. Both Majestic and Primary Windings are very busy and are basically a bloke inna shed type operation which you have to take into account. Also unless they have your tfmr on the shelf expect to wait a few months for them to wind it.

I rate them highly for transformers and chokes. Been using them for 20+ years. Custom designs which all mine are get codes and now 20 years on I can reorder a custom by a unique code printed on the choke/transformer . But at the moment, be prepared to wait a considerable time as I'm doing plus shipping to NZ in my case.
