Reading some threads dealing with car speakers in home wifi, it seems that all in all this is not the best idea. However, I have a pair of Kenwood KFC-HQ718 speakers lying around and I want to check the possibility to use them for home hifi. Do you think it would be possible to get good results? any prefered design? or it will be a total waste of time?
Assuming my amp is able to drive 4 Ohms.
Thanks,
Aviv.

Off course!
I heard a couple of 6"*9" in vented boxes a while back. Surprisingly good. Don't knock it till you try it😉

Sure you can use them, how they will sound is another question.
Car drivers rarely, IME, come with T/S to calculate the suitable box size. And often the top is a bit hot.

Dave, something went wrong with the picture...
If it has a low chance to sound good, I will skip it.
I thought that OB might be the first choice for car speakers. Any potential OB or vented box design to give it a try?.

I guess that the little membrane is just there for cosmeticsAnd often the top is a bit hot.
It's a 2 way, really.
Better to remove the mid/tw(fake!) assembly
and use something else

Yes, they're not generally designed for boxes anyway.
Picture workd for me in 2 browesers. The current BBS sw will squash the preview picture vertically, Clik on it to fix that.
Try it. You won’t know how it sounds till you listen to it.
An OB is a good experiment, and fairly simple to jerry rig.

OB here, OB there
...
First, the bass department needs to be separated from mid&tw for obvious reasons, which is different filtering according to dipole loss at bass frequencies
etc
etc.
Disintegrating or throw in the bin that plastic mid/tw puts a smile in my face.
Analyzing the bass unit just from the photo, puts a smile in my face again.
There are very few units (in the world) that might be decent, and this is not one of those

My knowledge in speakers design is near zero, could you explain what makes a unit decent vs. non decent one?
You have the driver. Fudge the OB and give them a listen. Only you can say whether the quality is sufficient for your needs.
I started out my journey in FR similarily with a FR car driver. You will learn alot during this process.
