Hello!
Can someone answer me a question? What is actual frequency range of Morel's tweeters CAT308 and CAT 328-104? What crossover was used to measure those parameters? Those are recomended replacement for MDT30S, but have flat response at higher frequency. Old MDT30S has recomended frequency response from 1600 Hz, those new, as I understand should be used from 2200 Hz? Is it so?
May I use those tweeters with mid-bass drivers with recommended range up to 2000 Hz? I decide to make 2-nd order crossover at 1500 Hz. If no, what crossover frequency should I choose?
Any suggestions please.

And old MDT30S driver:

That looks like the old MDT-28, which I have a lot of experience with. 1600 or even 2200 seems low to me. I think you need a mid bass driver that goes higher. Just guessing of course, but that tweeter does best crossed over around 4K in my experience.

nightuser,
frequency response is to be seen on graphs manufacturer
provided. No XO is used to measure neither TS parameters
nor FR. They took one tweeter, attached it to some kind of
big baffle, can't see the conditions of measurement in
specified data, wired everything together and hit the button.
You may do with your tweeters whatever you want 😉.
Your money.
It is good practice to cross the tweeter in the range where it's
distortion is no longer issue. Also, one must know how much
power will be brought to tweeter terminal.
If someone fancies low XO frequencies, than the tweeter's
response in XO region better be very steep and the volume
at very moderate level. Otherwise burned voice coil should
be no surprise.
Personally, I'd never let it work below 2,5 to3 kHz.
Better safe than sorry.

I've used the CAT308 down to 2kHz LR4 without any issue. 1500Hz 2nd order is going to be pushing just about any dome tweeter that isn't in a waveguide. The Morel ET338 would be a better option if 1500Hz 2nd order is required.
As far as I know, the only difference between the CAT308 and the MDT30S is the CAT308 has a larger faceplate with recessed mounting holes.

Hello,
I'm planning on getting the same pair of either Morel 308 or 328 from falcon acoustics and would like opinion on xo point.
'not lower than double fs' is a good general rule from what i've read but would like to make sure to avoid damage.
Resonance is 650hz, so would 1.47k (via active crossover) be acceptable?
Also is "Priced individually, supplied in pairs." the same as minimum order quantity is two (for the price)?
Cheers
