hi my name is sephy peretz . i live in israel.
i am asking your help, since i saw the forum (diyaudio) and i am happy to meet people in the field of audio, rich with knowledge, gladly willing to dispend help !

i am an electronics technitian.

i am looking for a service manual for my NAD 412 tuner. the transformer blew up a few days ago. primary winding is out. nad sales and representatives practically laughed in my face for asking thier technical help on this matter.

i am desperatly looking for the service manual. willing to pay for it, trade for it or anything else for that matter .
i would appriciate any help on this matter . even directing me to someone else that can help (if noone is able to help ...):xeye:

hello again ...

thank you .

unfourtunatly there are no thermal fuses in this transformer .
i know what you are talking about since i have seen those many times before on other appliances and on this one there simply isnt any.

i really need to rewire this traffo somehow and have no idea what the input voltages are .

do you happen to know by any chance where can i get service manuals for this device ?

again thank you .
yours sephy .

Hi sephy,
I wish I had a diagram for you. Anyone?

How many secondary windings do you have? What is the voltage rating of the main filter capacitor(s)?
I'm hoping you don't have a filament winding for a flouresent display tube. They can range from 2 ish volts to 5 or more volts. In the dark, the filamentshould glow dull red.

I didn't get chance to measure last night, I went out instead... :drink: 😉

I will get round to it some time this week though, promise!

The display is a standard LCD segment device, backlit by small linear filament lamps that seem to have a very short life, so I replaced mine the second time around with ultra bright wide angle green LEDs. If I remember correctly the supply for these was 12v ac.

Thank you.

pinkmouse. thank you!

when ever you get the time if at all possible i would love to know what output voltages the reciever has.

i have had i coule of rough days (work) so i couldnt reply quickly. but now im here 🙂 .

I measured my NAD 412 last night, and got 19.7-0-19.7 across the secondaries, so I would imagine that a 20-0-20 should do you fine.

Good luck with the repair, and if I can help again just ask, ( though I am only around at weekends at the moment).

huge huge thanks !

thank you so much pinkmouse.
this sure did the trick !
i rewound the traffo (now that i knew the voltages) and it works 🙂 .
it wasnt that ,easy as the original windings had a 110 and 220 input taps, so it had two diffrent wire widths...
but the important thing is , that now ot works !

i want to thank you guys ,
and thanks again pinkmouse .

I also own a NAD 412, and i think the transformer sounds like a bumblebee. i want to change it into a torodial core type. as quiet as possible. i don't know very much about components. can you help me?

Can I change it to this type: http://www.elfa.se/pdf/56/05613278.pdf
It's 2*18V, 2*10VA, and it seems like its 2*22,6V when it's on idle.

It's rated for 2*630mA fuses, but in the NAD 412 the fuses are 315mA. I don't want to mess it up, should I keep the fuses? and should I also mount a DC filter to keep it quiet?

all comments are welcome
