NAD C521BEE Tray will not open

The tray of my NAD C521BEE will not open. The display is showing 'OPEN' but nothing is happening.

Usually it is the belt problem in the tray open/close mechanism, but in this case I do not hear the tray motor rotating too.

I checked the motor drive circuit, it is not getting the logic signals to activate the motor.

I am suspecting the loading/unloading microswitch, but am unable to open the tray from the CD mechanism. Unless I manually unload the tray, I cannot see the drive belt or the micro switch, as the front panel will not come out.

Can anyone help me as how to open the tray manually.

I could not even check the tray motor as the connectors are stuck rock solid.

CD already in the drive does play normally though.

percival007,

Thank you so much for the picture of the gear in the CD Mechanism.

I had opened the top cover and the clamp earlier, but missed the tray gear peeping from inside.

I manually rotated this gear and the tray came out. On powering up, the tray retracted and ejected with the 'CLOSE' and 'OPEN' commands.

The problem is fixed, the belt and motor is OK, perhaps the tray mechanism had jammed.

Now the CD player is working fine.

Many thanks for the 'manual' link. It is always handy to have the service manual.

Konzentr8,

I tried your suggestion, but it did not work. Appreciate your willingness to help.

Thank you ALL.

Regds.

Manual here...........

See exploded view on page 28

See attached picture. Turn the Gear mentioned and the Tray will move.

I'm certain it's going to be the belt! It always is on this Mech !
