NAD Power Envelope question

Looking for a used 2nd receiver. What did the NAD PE series do, that made it different from the non-PE? For example, the specs for the 7140 and the 7240PE are identical, so what was the difference between the two? Thanks

Well you kinda answered your own question.

The 7140 and the 7240PE are different in the numbers. : O)

But actually it is in the power supply i Believe i had a 2200 and it was a nice power amp too good for power hungry speaker's..

The cheaper PE receivers used two ± power supply rails with a fast diode on the lower rails feeding the outputs, a polyswitch was in series with the upper rails.
