Hey everyone. I have a pare of vintage speakers with Philips bass drivers and tweeters, I have no idea what kind of midrange driver it has. I was wondering if anyone can help me identify the brand and maybe model.
I bought it together with a very old Salora Stereo 1700 receiver with casette player

FYI Philips, does not keep any more any records of anything older than it current products portfolio.
Therefore this new Philips-China company, is unable to offer you any spare parts either.
Therefore replace what ever you can by parts that you can possibly find from other sources.
Speakers reconditioning is not easy to happen, but some times is possible.

I don`t need any spare parts, they are in perfect working condition. I just want to know the brand (if it`s not Philips, only the drivers) and model number.
In this case take them apart and take your own pictures of its drive than using generic ones.

I think you misunderstand my post. I know the model of the drivers except the midrange as I have not take it out yet, I just wan`t to find out if anyone knows who made these particular speakers.
Philips drivers were used by a lot of different brands to make their speakers.
They are probably a "house brand", like Salora was. That midrange looks like it it is not original. After you take it out, check the baffle for signs of a different driver. Since the other drivers are Philips, there is a good chance it was also Philips, likely an AD5060Sq8.

The midrange is original. That stuff around it is sealant, it`s a 10cm driver, the 5060 is a 13cm driver, this one is AD1080/28.
I hope you turn them around horizontal to listen to them. AD1080 ? I think I have a Foster driver with that number that is a 4 inch and similar looking; does it have an integral plastic cup of about a litre?

I listen to them vertically, I have no space for them horizontally. The midrange are most certainly Philips, the basket is very similar to AD5060, so is the magnet. It has a white plastic cup and it is about 1 litre with a hole on the bottom where the magnets bottom plate fits in perfectly.
You can be about 100% sure, that it is not the original mid driver 🙂.
At that time (early 70's) almost all Philips drivers used a hexagonal basket. The mid in yours is a cheap 10cm speaker common in portale stereos, and the method of mounting..... hmmm done with those little metal whatevers and gunk aroud it, no Philips would have never done that, even 40 years ago.

But I am, 100% sure that they are the original drivers. They look cheap but are not from a cheap portable stereo, they are 100% genuine Philips. Even the soldering looks the same as on all of the other drivers, so I am positive they were never changed.
Is I wrote before, the speakers basket, or frame look identical as those of the well known hexagonal drivers, only smaller. A 13cm hexagonal midrange would not fit in it`s place.
The mounting is original, yes, not pretty, but original. The speakers were not meant to be used without the covers, that is why the mounting method isn`t very pretty

I don't think Philips ever used that style of cup on any driver. And the driver does not appear to have mounting holes in the flange, requiring the clips to hold it in. The only Philips drivers I know of in that form factor were intended for portable radios etc, rated at only a few watts, and had alnico/ticonal magnets.
It would be helpful to determine the date range. Do any of the drivers have Philips type numbers (ADxxxx) or catalogue numbers (for example, 2242 257 45001)?
The tweeter looks very much like an AD0160/T and the woofers could be AD706x/M series.
Lastly, pictures. We need pictures. 🙂
... Just noticed you quoted AD1080/28.
That's not a valid number - at least, it's not in the 1970 to 1985 catalogues, and it doesn't match their numbering system. Could that /28 be /Z8? Or it could be a special run, but in that case it would have a catalogue number instead of a model number.
