New speaker processors from BBE – DS24, DS26 and DS48

Since many of us are into speaker processor and active x-overs, here’s a new kid on the block that has not been commented on yet:

BBE introduced a suite of Loudspeaker processors that seem to compete very favorably (in specs) with the basics the Driverack series, but at a much, much lower price point. Seems to have most of what the BEH DCX delivers as well.
With RS-232 computer control and programming, it seems eminently usable as well.

The DS26 has a street price of $350, which I see as a sweet spot for what many of us are looking for.

Has anyone tried one of these?

I have project coming up (a multiway Center speaker) that I plan to apply a 1 in - 4 out x-over / EQ to.

The one question in my mind is phase management. I’m sure they handle +/-, but can they adjust in 1 degree angles like the DR 260 can?

No docs on the site yet and not formal reviews that I can find on the net.

It really sucks that we can't get any DCXs right now, but this is not an equivilant system 🙁

The DCX uses 24/96Khz AD and DA conversions, the D26 uses 24/48khz
The DCX has an auto align function that measures delay between speakers and corrects, the D26 has the abillity to add delay but not automatically measure it..

The D26 uses 32bit internal processing, the DCX doesn't mention what the internal precision is ... I remember reading somewhere it was 48 bits, but I can't find it now.. Does anyone know for sure what the internal precision is?? If its only 24 bits, I might have to listen to one of these D26s...

Just got a DS48. I already own Driverack PA and BSS minidrive 336. Software seem exactly the same as BSS, but with more function to handle the extra output. At first try, it sound disgusting. Like an unmodified Driverack...But with replacement of the LM358 opamp in the input and outputh path with SG TL072, WOW! Sound really close to the BSS. Limiter are precise and transparent, crossover seem honnest, and phase alignment work as the BSS. With modification, really great unit for the price. 10 time better than the DBX, bith less than the BSS...

hey fredos
I'm thinking of picking up a bbe DS26. I noticed you replaced the opamps in yours, but can't find a schematic. How many are there and is it simply a matter of pulling the old ones out of a socket and plugging in the new?

Thanks, Jon

Anyone still useing the BBE ds48 or 24 etc..? I am thinking to get one as they are to be had for under 300.00 for the 48.. or just get the behringer..? Seems on pro circles the BBE at least is supposed good sonics & very quiet..?
