can you help me find a couple of nuts for the binding posts of AR 3A Improved? The original parts would be ideal.. but for the moment I could make it with two nuts.
I live in Italy and it is not easy to source parts sized in inches.
On my caliber the bolt measures 4.20 mm.

You need what is called a thumb nut. It is English with #8 thread (NOT metric which will not fit).
It is an open nut (NOT a closed top, which will not fit).

If you have trouble finding those, try wing nuts, or at worst plain brass nuts, you can tighten them with the right bit on a screw driver, don't use too much torque.
Also, put a plain and a spring washer, it will not come loose then, and the plain washer will hold the wire in place, rather than moving with the nut.
And look in general hardware or building hardware stores, much cheaper than audio shops.
Maybe even in auto parts stores.
Actually, best solution is to change over to Metric screws and nuts, preferably brass, or stainless if brass is hard to get. Try for plated brass.
Stainless will not corrode, should be easier to get than brass.

Yes, there were originally washers on the stud as well.
Don't wrap the wire around the threads, just hook it between two washers
and tighten the thumb nut. Wing nuts would also work, but not look original.
You really don't want to disassemble the speaker just to change the bolt to metric.
Get four #8 thumb nuts and eight #8 washers.

Thank you so much for your replies. I was feeling a bit depressed after calling a couple of local shops. They just thought I was joking 😀
I bought these loudspeakers a week ago and I am quite impressed by the quality of the sound and by the power this old drivers can still easily handle. I also love the vintage look. They might replace my Snell Type A IIIi.

There are still lots of them around, since lots were sold even though they were expensive.
They just need to have the pots cleaned, and maybe the caps replaced.
"Flat" is with the pots at maximum, and "pleasant sound" is with the pots at normal.

Indian merchants will not sell small quantities, see the American or Chinese sellers.
Micro Tools or clock shops may have some.

You should crimp some eyelets onto the cables that way you will get a much more secure connection

As someone who works with fasteners every single day, I'd suggest going to an actual fastener store (not a hardware store) with the binding post, such as fastenall or whoever is local to you.
They should have something that fits.

Please clarify, he is in Italy, so very much better for him if they are actually M4, rather than an inch size.
Just remove a nut from the existing post, holding the end in a cloth or paper, then hold stud with pliers, and using a 6 mm spanner, unscrew the nut.
Check with a 4 mm screw, if it fits, you are home free, at least then you can get a large variety of screws in your Metric country.
Or simply get a 4mm nut and try to put it on the screw. that is easier.
And don't worry too much, steel also works, brass is not critical unless you are OCD, or have golden ears.

This is a 1958 speaker made in the USA, and it is most definitely English, not metric.

That was a bit confusing.
He needs a 32 tpi thread, 5/32" or so. That specification might get more results.

That was in reference to the earlier post #10 which was selling 4mm nuts.
Only an English #8 nut will fit these 60 year old American speakers.

Those nuts in steel are cheap, and he needs like 4 pieces.
Shipping from here will be less than $3 or so, the steel nuts will be almost free.
Those are like a Rupee each, before discount, so about 1 cent apiece in plated steel.
