ONKYO TX-8511 relays problem

[fixed] ONKYO TX-8511 relays problem

i have this amp (receiver) now for 20 years maybe more. it is a great piece of technology and sounds nice.

i had to change the 2 relays now a couple of times because of a no sound issue (work-arounded by turning up the volume really loud where it started to play and then lowering the volume again).

the problem is that the replacement relays work fine for only 1-2y and then they brake again.

QUESTION: would it be a good idea to try to short connect the circuit handled normally by the relays. did anyone try? i have had it with buying replacement parts and disassembling the amp all the time.

the originals did last for at least 15 years.

first time i did replace it with something that had the same product code and they lasted for at least 3 years.
second time i let it repair and the dude told me they ordered it from ONKYO directly. (those lasted ~1y until they broke again.)

I have Sony TA-A70. My relay also had a problem with the left channel (intermittent loss sound on left channel). I fixed it by push one connector inside relay back to origjnal position.
before fixing, I have to turn the volume to 12h position and low it down. (to increase the ampere). 20190803_131114.jpg20190803_131834.jpg

thanks vucv. i thought about this before (not sure why i did not do it) but your post motivated me to try it now.

it was not one of the pair relays i changed before but a third relay on the power supply. the guys from the repair shop did not replace it apparently but did just what you told me now when it was serviced.

now it plays on the lowest possible volume.
