I did a repair job on Onkyo TX-NR609 AV Receiver which had no sound.
However, the AV Receiver was able to deliver Video via HDMI (OUT) to TV.
I noticed that 24V relays to turn on Speaker Channels did not click !
Just wondering ??? could this no sound problem from HDMI board itself ????
Note: All the associated raw and regulated voltages were presence.

If anyone has any clues, please enlighten me.

Thanks in advance,

Peter.

Don't know if I am in the correct forum? 1st time user; with Onkyo TX-NR609 sound problem.
My receiver has power & switching seems to work but lost the audio, so I took it to a local repair shop who said they work on Onkyo. He told me he needed to replace the sound card & it would cost me another $230 for him to repair it, after $40. to detect the problem which is 1/2 of what the receiver cost me?! I have been reading online that the sound problem could also be the HDMI chip or the sound card. He never mentioned the chip, only the sound card? Does anyone have any suggestions for me for I am a disabled veteran on a fixed income & it took me 2 yrs. to save up for this receiver.

What do you mean by "sound card"?

Anyway - if it's the HDMI board, $230 for a BGA reflow, a small heatsink and maybe a few new electrolytics seems like a bit of a ripoff. That's what I'd expect for a major power amp meltdown on multiple channels or something. Even then, this kind of money would probably get you a better / more modern AVR on the used market. Besides, any workshop that just does whole board swapping is probably better avoided.
