Opamps with bal/comp pins like 5534?

there is a OP07, OP27, OP37


OP27 is general Purpose.. Connection a VR10K to Pin 1 8 and 7.

Center of the VR goes to Pin7. You will be able to adjust 0Volt DC down to 0.0000
This account also for OP27 and 37.
OP27 is a Operartional Amplifer to create a MC Amp RIAA and all what comes with it.. LOW NOISE and high openloop Gain
OP37 is a Intrument Amplifier, not talking about Guitars or like wise.. its used to create measuring units.


OP37 is the best but there the amps are in different classes. the best are OP37E and OP37GP.
The E Version is able to deliver 13.5 volts p-p or about 9.5 Volts RMS, with rail voltage of +-22Volts. the GP is a little lower.
I have used +/ 24 alredy and all of the used OP37E have survived it.. But MAX is 22

Both of them need a minimun Feedback Gain of more than 5 to operate well.
Using op37, then NE5534 is disposable..Even NE5534 has more output to show.

If used in AUDIO it is no Match compaired to OP series.
Price is for OP37E around 5 usd.

The OP37 has input bias current cancellation circuitry so its current noise is somewhat worse than the datasheet value in practical circuits, alas, so its been measured as a bit worse than the NE5534A for phono amp use.

There's no spec at all for distortion for it or the OP27 (internally compensated version), and Doug Self's investigations reveal why, it has rapidly rising common-mode distortion above about 2kHz, so that it manages about 0.06% at 20kHz, despite being just under 0.001% at 1kHz.

The 5534A often exceeds its noise performance and has lower distortion. The 5532 will be a bit noisier of course, but less distortion, and much cheaper per opamp. Rather deviously the OP27/OP37 datasheets compare it to the 5534, not to the lower noise 5534A that is normally chosen for low noise work(!)

The OP27/OP37 are designed for DC precision, audio performance is rather an after-thought. Worth reading the analysis in Doug Self's "Small Signal Audio Design" book, based on many many measurements of many many opamps in both shunt and series feedback configs.
 
I've been thrilled with the Analog Devices AD744. It's one of the very few JFET-input opamps still sold, with balance pins and external compensation.

I use the external compensation feature to great benefit, in the "Norwood" input stage daughter card design. This is one of five swappable PCB cards which serve as the front end of the First Watt M2x power amps.

Norwood is a composite amplifier with AD744 at the input and HA5002 video buffer (110 MHz / ±200mA) at the output. External compensation on the '744 lets me tweak the phase margin of the composite amp as a whole, to account for the (admittedly small!) phase lag introduced by the buffer. It would have been much more significant with an LT1010 buffer -- but I switched to the 5002 and never looked back.
