I recently discovered this thread by Steven where he mentions his goal to design an open baffle full range speaker that’s omnidirectional and has a good low end bass. https://www.decware.com/cgi-bin/yabb22/YaBB.pl?num=1704665765/17
Decware has listed this design as ZROB: https://www.decwareproducts.com/zrob I like the fact that room placement matters less in this design. But I’m not sure if it produces enough bass. Seems easy enough to try and I’m going to build a prototype in a few weeks once my Lii song silver 10 drivers arrive.
Does anyone have opinions on this design?

It's a 'sound' 😉 design with the understanding that for a given baffle size/taper/slope it's driver Qt dependent with room acoustics dominating all, so make it with a fairly wide range of adjustment and fine tune with room tweaking.
I think most any OB would like a sub to play with. I use subs on mine.
Steve Decker is an audio god, read his white papers.
I will, on Steve's advice add a Dayton Audio AMTPRO-4 Air Motion Transformer to my setup.
This is the driver used on the ZROB design.

Open baffle is not omnidirectional, on the contrary. Due to the cancellation on sides its figure eight. Not omnidirectional.
No matter how he reflects the backs wave, it will not make it omni.

It's overpriced. You could build a lot of speakers for $6869 USD.Does anyone have opinions on this design?

I have learned through experience that much of what Decard says is hyperbole and misinformation — spn in a way that draws some in. And all to often what Jedd said… not worth the asking price.
