Is this what you are looking for?

ohhh thanks guys! I wasn't able to open the file in post 123 but I just try with another browser and it works! thanks! do you think it could be a good "budget" subwoofer? I read almost all the thread on the forum and I still don't know if it worth it. I want to get a deeper extension than my tham12, but not too big. is it a good option? thanks guys

IIRC it'll go a little below 40Hz used in singles. Its not the smallest design, and the LAB12 driver can suffer from thermal issues if you're planning to throw lots of power in for extended periods of time. I suppose its up to you to decide if that fits with what you're after.
It may be of interest to check out the 12pi sub - they use LAB12s with external heatsinks that ought to keep the motor cooler.

Chris

The PAL12 is 100db (99.7204) @ 40hz and my opinion wipes the floor with the THAM12 and worth every inch of the additional size. Far better cab for dance/dnb/etc. Not sure if this would be PA use or not for you but the Infinity 1260w sims nearly identical and can be had for $60USD, 1/3 of the cost of a LAB12.

I think the PAL12 is your best option with small size in consideration. If you want to go a bit deeper and louder, you have to step up to the XOC1 TH18 or my favorite Keystone. BUT, these are even larger options and the ideal drivers are much pricier too. One of these is equal to 2 PAL12s.

FWIW, if I was starting from scratch (e.g. no drivers on hand), I'd probably not choose to build a pro audio TH with a LAB12 driver. There are other 12" drivers that may be more suitable to the task.

The B&C 12NDL88 looks like a possible candidate - I have an "Art-inspired"** 40 Hz TH alignment in HornResp for that that can do 125dB @ 100 Hz from a 129 L cabinet, if you're willing to test with a 4.2:1 compression though 🙂

If you shooting for below 40 Hz though, that's another matter.

** - design for SPL at higher frequencies, bring up the low end with EQ

maybe 1 th18 maybe a better option... it's smaller than 2 pal12...so 1 box will do exactly the same job as 2 pal12? I will have to find the hornresp data of these boxes to compare! both look good! thanks 😛

Brian, I don't really need under 50hz but thes boxes will be for heavy deep bass gigs! I don't do this kind of gig often so that's why it's not my principal sub! for these gigs... maybe a true 30hz is needed... or 30hz..? Maybe for a small size 30hz tuned cabinet I should only build a bass reflex box with a push-pull dual 15"? I will look for this because I think a 30hz horn will be too big. I don't have a specific maximum size box, but I need to be able to move it alone.

thanks guys

If you need to move it alone, I'd probably go for 1x15" THs, and build multiples. 18" THs are getting a bit too big (IMO) to be lifted into and out of a car/trailer safely.

You might find that these subs will suit any gig you want to do just fine 😉

Chris

I am with Chris. 18" TH are not really 1 man cabs but my "gigs" usually are friends and family and I can always find a dude to help move stuff. If I was regularly gigging for income and solo it'd be another story. Not sure what you're using in the THAM12 but the THAM15 looks to be a significant improvement over the 12. The design is very driver friendly too. 2 THAM15 loaded with Dayton PA385's looks really good to me.

NICE!!! and there's the THAM15 mkII or something like this that is still a better(for me)
I never think about THAM15 but they are maybe the best option for me! they're small and powerfull enough for my kind of gigs! and dayton PA385 are cheap drivers if my memory is good! I'll see this! It's the same design but bigger, it's easy to build... yeah thanks for this man I think that I found my news subs 😉

if somebody got a idea for something that goes a bit lower (30-35hz) and can be move alone, please tell me it before I make my choice! 😛

You made me realize I had different THAM15 designs saved in HR and FYI the design I used above was Don Snyder's from post 19 http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwoofers/175658-tham15-compact-15-tapped-horn-2.html#post2440483

IMO Don's design just rocks with the PA385 ($200). It has to be one of the best application of Hoffman's law I've some across.

Note that design also does not include any cone compensation. Try setting Vtc to 4.5L and Atc to Sd - that should give a better idea of what to expect from that design.

hey I was for good subwoofer and I found the FTH12 design by Tony Wilkes(RIP) and I can't find the plans! somebody told me they were on his site but... www.forteaudio.eu
It's now a porn site... I don't know a lot about them... I didn't find a lot on information but Anders tolds here:FTH12 Tapped Horn - Speakerplans.com Forums - Page 3 " this may very well be one of the most efficient "subs" in their class of volume" I don't plan to build one yet, but I just found that this is really bad because Tony puts a lot of efforts and now is website is a porn site... no more plans...nothing...

ok now for me, a 200L box is a bit to big I think! but if TH aren't good for me this maybe the best choice!

the first section of the post is a question... what can we do about it? Do you think that we could make a free website with all Tony's projects? I don't know him... will he be happy with this? is it legal to do this?
Thanks for your answer and I hope we could make something for this... (maybe the adress isn't good but I took it directly on speakerplans forum( in Tony's signature)
