Not a pds-707 but a pds507 owner and the modifications i did was to remove the output muting transistors, replaced the opamp to a opa2134 and removed the DC blocking cap. The benefits i found was in the same order. The drawback is some noise when turning on and off the CD from removing the muting transistors. There is a previous thread on modifying a pds-507 where Krishu did some more thorough work. There is some good general advice in there

Hello *S*
i have been doing modd's to the PD-S707 for quite some time .. actually trashing one of then due to some silly reasons *LOL*
but what made the most effect without modding electronics is First of all try adding weight to the driveplate ... Ihave been using bottles for oil .. solderrolls .... lead ... sandsocks .... it makes quite a difference ... and mostly in the "speed" of the sound .. more kick !! about 200 - 400 gram should do it .. needs a little finetuning *S*
Second ... try changing the outputchip for something better .. OPA2134 .. AD825 .. OPA627 .... your wallet most likely makes the choice *LOL*
Third ... remove the muting transistors in the output ... sorry cant remember the details right now .. but if you want i can find out what to do .. *S*
besides that, at the moment im modding my second PD-s707, things done so far :
more uF in the supply ( new supply under construction )
adding a black plate of paperboard around the driveoptics ( be carefull please !!! )
fine tuning the servo pot's ( subtle differences, mainly clearer sound )
adding LC XO3 new Quality clock and completely removing old clockcircuits
latest modd... the LC Zapfilter 2 run straight from the DAC ( greatest improvement other than modding the driveplate )
*S* hope that gave you some idea what could be done *S*
Keep on tweaking !

Could anyone help me with the following?
I want to use my PD-S507 as a transport only. There is a new clock in it, new digital outputs (both RCA and XLR) and a jitter-killer board. All unnecessary analogue stage were left out of the circle (as it is only a transport). BUT! There was no change in the servo and mechanical circuit yet. What is worth doing there? What should be replaced or bypassed?
Thanks a bunch!
