Peavey Windsor Presence & Resonance problem

Resonance and presence are negative feedback features of the power amp. They are active controls, and respond differently depending upon how loud the amp is playing.

Also, for them to work, the NFB of the amp must be functioning. All your parts might be OK, but there is the little 3-wire cable from those controls over to the speaker jack board. Is that cable and its end connections OK? Likewise over at the phase inverter where the NFB is inserted, if that cap is open or has a failed connection, there'd be no NFB action.

I hear very slight changes in sound turning Presence when I make the amp very loud (Marshall TSL100 presence regulation is much more vivid at any volume level), but still there is no changes in Resonance. I checked the cable and the points of its connections. It seems ok. I understand that I miss something. But what?

Dunno.

Resonance applies to the low end the way the presence applies to the high end.

Sometimes I find playing music through the amp instead of guitar makes things easier to hear. Music has a ful range of frequencies. I use a feed from my cheap shop stereo receiver.

Did you check the insertion point at the phase inverter? there is a resistor to ground and the cap up to the cathode of the tube.

And even is that cable is OK, it still has to ge4t somewhere. I would use my ohm meter from the controls over to points on the other boards to make sure the paths between are OK.

Agree and add: play some LOUD chugga chugga chest thumping chords, try some palm muting, specially with a 7 string or drop tuned guitar and heavy strings and play with the resonance control.

That's what it was invented for.

Anyway it's not day and night, it's just some help to make the amp sound beefier.

Thanks for the answers. As far as I understand presence and resonance regulations are not so vivid as for example in Marshall amps. I watched review of Windsor on Youtube, and when the guy changed those regulations I didn't notice the difference. The schematic of phase inverter is not usual maybe this is the reason too.
