Phono cable with L4E6s

Ive been using Canare star quad L4e6s and Canare F09 connectors to make unbalanced RCA's. I connect the two white to the tip and the two blues are connected to ground. I twist the shield with the ground on the source end only.

Im rewiring a Thorens TP11 tonearm. Its being used with a Sumiko Pearl cartridge.

I would like to use the star quad for new interconnects.

Should I use the shield connected to the tone arm wiring as I have been doing with the unbalanced RCA's?

You seem to be combining all the disadvantages of starquad with none of the benefits. Starquad doubles your capacitance, which is rarely a good idea with moving magnet cartridges, and your input is not balanced so you can't take advantage of the common mode rejection advantages that starquad can give.

I wouldn't use it unless your phono stage is balanced. With shielded twisted pair IMO (and opinions differ) I would break the cart ground connection and ground the cart to the arm. Connect shield to the tonearm and use the twisted pair for +/- on the cartridge. Ground shield on preamp to the ground stud.

I had a feeling the capacitance was not correct for mm carts. I will seek another option.

However, is the way I am using the Star Quad for source to amp connection suitable?

Again I am connecting the whites as the tip and the blue as the grounds. For the source side I am twisting the shield with the grounds. The other side I remove the shield completely.
