head unit deh-7700mp 3 pre outs i believe thats what there called also have gm-5100t amp and 10 inch pioneer sub. rookie to this but good with electrical, how can i get all speakers connected to amp, have sub output on head unit will it work without hooking to amp or do i need an amp to power the sub, can the rca outputs be cut at one end wires stripped and hooked to speakers or is there some part i need to hook the rca plug to speakers. do i need to use the preout to run the speakers if i want to hook to amp., i hope i've explained this ok. oh ya i've tried hooking up the sub to the deck without the amp and i can't get it to work thats why i asked do i need an amp to powere the sub

You need the amp to power the subwoofer. If your intending to hook "all" meaning 4 full range speakers in the car to the amp also it is pretty impratical. You need to use a passive crossover which at a proper crossover point is basically a waste of money. Hook them up to the deck for now and use a amp later. Your
RCA's are line level and are never intended to power speakers themselves and doing so will likely damage your amp.
