What do you think about this?k-series-step-up
They say that you can upgrade k10 (2x6000w) to a k20(2x9000w) by buying a card priced more or less as the price difference between the models. What a bunch of thieves. I see some technical possibilities:
1.You get peak power like the bigger model but the continuous power will be limited to same power you have without the card. But the power is limited anyway, even if you don't have a card, at a fraction of 2x6000w because not enough cooling and undersized components. This is the design philosophy of many high power amps.
2.The amplifier model with lower power uses same components like the higher power model, but is deliberately crippled by digital signal processor to limit the power.If anybody have schematics of k10 and k20 please tell us the differences.
3.This is unlikely.They relax the protections for more power but decreased reliability.I don't think that they can do such a thing, but is technically possible.
After they robbed the customers with their overpriced amps, they are making fun of them.
I heard that they will make amplifiers with slots for credit cards😀😀😀

Sounds like all but the K10 are power limited on purpose... Not a fair practice...

Funny marketing stuff. This is like buying a BMW M5 with only 200hp, but don't worry: for 30.000 euro more you can get real power from it.
So: you are paying for the full hardware platform at the start but getting only a percent of its potential, when it could be achieved for only a fraction of its cost.

A perfectly reasonable business model, you get what you pay for. Most pro's aren't looking for the maximum power from an amp, they're looking for an amp that provides the power needed for a particular application, and that will differ from say, a stack of subs to the CDs in a stage wedge.
Whats your problem? If something is too expensive, simply don't buy it! Nobody forces you to buy this or that, and nobody hides anything. You can't expect a manufacturer to make more different hardware models just for your wish, if it's not ecological for them. It's their right to decide. Making different models increase logistical and manufacturing problems. Development and certification costs also.

No, they don't! This is one of the exeptions, the upgrade that is not possible. Read it again!
Also K3 to K6 is not upgradable!
Powersoft products are extremely expensive, this is something that can make a company fail in the global crisis times we live, as more affordable products appear and the market can suddenly shift. They are just benefiting from a the lack of competitors.

But after i read slower i see that is possible to upgrade from k6(2x3600w) to k10(2x6000w) with TWO cards😀
rohde & schwarz for example have something similar for their mobile phone RF measurement equipment.
if want to test only 4 bands on a mobile 4 you buy 4 licenses.
if you later decide you want wifi measurements, then you buy another licence, the hardware support is there. only thing is you have to pay.
