ProAc Super Tablette - Swapping Scan-Speaks for Hiquphon OW1s

I got my ProAc Tablettes in to find one speaker's Scan-Speak D2008 tweeter was bad. So I have two choices:

1 ) Buy and install a stock D2008 tweeter

2 ) Take this opportunity to replace BOTH tweeters with a matched pair of Hiquphon OW1 Tweeters.

Advantage - a SERIOUSLY nice tweeter with greater performance, clarity, etc. Disadvantage: I dont know what - if any - mods the crossover will need.

Opinions?

I haven't used either tweeter - out of my budget - but I would be almost sure that crossover changes would be needed. I would hazard an guess that very few, if any tweeters of differing brands would be interchangeable in that way.

As a minimum, have you compared specs and FR graphs?

I'd go for option 1.

Hi,

Generally, the Hiquphon OW I is considered as drop-in replacement for Scanspeak D2008/8511 and 8512 tweeters.

Provided that your ProAc Tablettes come with one of these tweeters, there shouldn't be a problem. Worst case you will need to increase the level by half a dB! 🙂

However, there are many variants of ProAc Tablettes, D2008 and OW I or 1 tweeters, that makes things rather confusing.
