Anyone have experience with PRV woofers and full range drivers? How do they compare quality and performance wise to other budget oriented drivers? 15W700 for example looks pretty nice for a budget driver if it has decent sound and build quality. I notice a lot of folks using their CDs but not much about the direct radiators.
User XRKsomething got their 5" midrange a while ago, and loved it. Lots of posts about it. He hammered the HF spikes down with DSP, and used it as a full range.
They seem robust / build quality is good, based on his impressions.
In general, budget woofers often have softer magnets / lower Qts when measured, compared to what is advertised. If your build is flexible enough to allow for this, they can work just fine.

You are right. I stated it the wrong way around.?? 'Softer' magnets implies weaker = higher Qts, the primary cost cutter.
Most of the mid sized drivers I've tested have been very close to their advertised values, with a couple of exceptions (e.g. I picked up a quad of 4" where 3 were good, and 1 was weak, presumably a manufacturing defect).
Quite a few of the large woofers I've tested have had higher Qts than advertised.
Probably due to one or both of:
1) Manufacturing changes / cost cutting (magnets a bit weak compared to the original production run)
2) Crafty manipulation of spec sheet units (using 1V in their tests, but presenting them as if they were small signal values).
Are you talking about this brand or just in general? If the latter, it's been true for as far back as the 1930s with basic specs, which was usually only Fs; the 15" Lansing/Altec horn drivers were spec'd at 40 Hz, presumably to match RCA's real world 40 Hz, yet all I've measured or seen published was closer to 60 Hz even after decades of cinema use!
That said, any Vas, Qes specs were often (way) off too, especially during/after the major change to low output impedance amps that required a much higher Qts, lower Vas to 'fit' any existing cab alignment, but the sum worked 'close enough' to perform as advertised in whatever cab(s)/app they were rated for.

I don’t know about woofers but their 5MR450NDY midrange is one of the best sounding drivers I have heard. Very well built with cast baskets, neodymium motor, copper shorting rings etc. You can see where I am using it here from 470Hz to 4700Hz. Nearly most of the important mid range. I have actually used it as a full range up to 12kHz before. Below I am using a planar tweeter above 4700Hz.

I really had my eye on the 8 ohm version of that one.I don’t know about woofers but their 5MR450NDY midrange is one of the best sounding drivers I have heard. You're where I saw this referenced. I couldn't recall. I'm thinking about using one in my smaller bass guitar cab above a 10.I don’t know about woofers but their 5MR450NDY midrange is one of the best sounding drivers I have heard.
Aren't PRV comprised of former Selenium engineers?
Their website’s “About Us” shows a young and dynamic team based out of Brazil and solid FEM magnetics modeling for driver motor design. Nothing mentioned about Selenium. Chief engineer for R&D is Acir Ozelame.
