When I first started this hobby 18 months ago I made a way too big dummy load as my first project, I think they are 500 watters (cant see them because I added another heat sink on top). I added a switch a switch to flip between the speaker or the resistor. My bench speakers stay plugged into this and I use the switch so I dont have to listen to test tones when testing or actual music. An 8 ohm WW resistor cant generate enough inductance to matter I was told, so I didnt look for non-inductive resistors. The guys into car audio buy a lot of these big resistors, thats where you'll find them the cheapest.

Replace lugs with banana plugs make it a quick connector to speaker post. Mine is 60W and got from Taiwan some 10 years ago.
