Hi there everyone. I've got a pair of Linn Helix Mk1 speakers and the tweeters have blown. The original Linn tweeters are no longer available so I need an alternative replacement. Unusually the Helix were crossed over at 1.5 Khz which by most standards seems quite low so I need something that will work at this frequency. Original Linn part number was SPKR011/2. Hope someone can help as I am new to all this and I don't want to have to skip my speakers !!
Hi,
The Mk1 tweeters are SPKR 005/1 and can been
upgraded to Nexus treble unit SPKR 010/1.
SPKR 011/2 are the tweeters for the Helix MkII.
Pictures of the originals and dimensions would help.

I suspect that this is going to be your sort of option :

sreten,
OP says that xo is @1K5Hz. Isn't the Fs of that tweeter that you mention (Seas 22TFF H1280-06) much?! higher than the original?

If this is true it might require a new crossover (I'm not aware of all conditions).By crossing from bass/mid to tweeter at a lower frequency than usual (1.5kHz electrically), the usual presence dip is largely avoided, though the main treble output (3-8kHz) is a little stronger than most and the ultimate H rolloff starting at 8kHz, a shade early.

Try these:

or maybe these:

Since Linn speakers are all around the same sensitivity most Linn replacement tweeters are suitable for most Linn speakers. Many Linn obsessives upgrade to these:
Linn speakers
So working tweeters are often for sale second hand.
Also before you blow your new tweeters, do get a more powerful solid state amplifier with low output impedance, as you likely killed the tweeters by clipping an under powered amp.

What about ferrofluid on the mentioned tweeter models?Hi,
