A friend of me tell me, that various devices of this model suffer from this problem - the noise when playing quiet music is unacceptably high.

Does anyone happen to know exactly which serial numbers are affected and which upgrade measures need to be taken to solve the problem?

No - either the volume control unit or the line amp itself behind the volume control unit cause the noise - even in ZERO position of volume control (i. e. without music signal) a very high noise level is audible.

Otherwise - have you actually met (and established by e.g. measuring) that problem yourself?
