I 'think' the CD-Player has gone out, It picks up a disc, spins twice, then puts the disc back, It does this twice. Never actually reads disc. It is a Rowe Encore CD-100, Has no error codes, I CAN see the laser come on, not sure how bright its suppose to be...? Help greatly Appreciated. PS- How hard would it be to swap the cd-player part with a home/car cd player housing?😕
What lazer assembly is in it? ought to be a label right on the pickup thingie.
Have you cleaned the lens?
You ought NOT to look into the laser. It can damage your eyes. You cannot see the IR it makes.

Here is a link to a Sony laser pickup assembly. Look on the photo, and see the label stuck on the bit of circuit board? This one is a KSS213.

I am looking for something like that. Yours could even be a Sony or a Sharp or other brands. I don't know who made the disc player for Rowe. Of course not all are so labeled, but look over your pickup assembly for anything similar.
If we can get some sort of number, we might identify it and find a replacement from a consumer electronics parts house.
And what the heck, have you called Rowe?

I found the number 20511051 and just under it there is 1vco573, these are directly on the laser assembly> I called Rowe, a few times, I keep getting a complete different story everytime. Thanks for the help. PS, Last night I checked out some laser assembleys from a home cd player, which was too different, but one from a car cd player looks very similar, if not identical.
I am not active in jukebox circles anymore. I was in that industry for several decades though. Rowe either has the part or does not. They probably want to just replace the whole player unit. And Rowe probably won't tell you some other product would fit. SO perhaps if you could find a currently active jukebox forum. Guys ther would have faced this already and probably have better answers than I do.
There are MANY kinds of laser optical pickups. There was a time that MCM sold a bunch. But nowdays, CD players are a tiny and shrinking part of consumer electronics, so fewer places carry them, and selections are fewer. I used to see many Sony pickups. Many stereo brands used SOny pickups inside. There would be a number of them that LOOK about the same, but they have electronic differences. I don't know just what those differences are, but it was enough that the wrong one would not work.
Today in pro audio I do see occasional CD players, not as many as 15 years ago. Many of my DJ customers used them. Now it is all on computer or iPod.

Ah. I think that number is for the whole player assembly, not just the laser, right? But at least it identifies what it is, and that it is not some custom made thing only Rowe uses. Though Rowe probably customized the mechanics of it.
I myself am not aware of anyone selling parts for CD ROM drives, but that doesn't mean they are not out there.

Since it said 'phillips' I thought I would take a look at a Phillips cd player I happened to have laying around, turns out it was the same! Even the same part number, So good news for me, I just hope that its the problem with my jukebox.
