samson servo 260 advice please

Hi all,

I'm about to open up my Samson servo 260 amp. Perhaps there are others who have experienced the same problem or can refine my floundering:

After startup, one channel intermittently cuts out. This is temporarily fixed for about an hour by fiddling with the volume pot on the preamp giving it signal. After that the amp functions normally, and does not cut out at low input volumes.

My instinct is that this is a capacitor. I have exchanged cords, preamp, speakers etc. to isolate it to the left channel on this amp. Also, this is independent of which input and output connectors I use on the back panel (1/4", rca, etc.)

Searching the forum I see that these kind of amps can experience transistor issues. I'm not sure I can check these, I'm set up with just a DMM and a low voltage oscilloscope software (SignalScope.)

Thanks for any help.
