Sealing MDF "furry" edges prior to gluing?

I didn't cut the panels of one of my speaker boxes very accurately and use sandpaper to sand to size. The fit is now acceptable but the edges (to be glued) are now quite "furry".
Do I need to keep lightly sanding the panel edges with say 220 grit to try and make them as smooth as possible and/or should I seal the edges by applying pva glue, letting it dry and then lightly sanding smooth prior to butt jointing the panels?

Thanks

Fine as is but I always run some glue around MDF panel edges and let it soak in and dry before glue and clamp-up- this ensures that it doesn't wick the glue out of the joint, which leads to weak joints. It also helps avoid moisture uptake, always a concern with MDF. I sometimes do this with ply too.
