I'm in the beginning stages of an amp project (mainly for stage amping my Fender Rhodes suitcase w/ the stereo vibrato preamp) and would appreciate any advice you kind folks might have. (I started a similar thread @ thegearpage.net but I thought it might be good to see what you folks think)
I've got one fully functional Silvertone 1482 combo amp in decent shape - vibrato axed, sounds great with the rhodes - a smoky little gain machine.. I just acquired another questionably-functional 1482 amp (just the amplifier).
My general goal is to have one 2x12 combo amp capable of the accepting two separate vibrato L/R signals and route them simultaneously to separate speakers in the same cabinet, or throw a switch and have the inputs joined so that mono signals at either input would be routed to both speakers. Then I can double-mic it on stage and pan the mics for stereo-vibrato goodness. Aside from the simplest method of just putting everything in one box and maintaining the amps separately, I'm wondering if there would be any neat ways to join the circuits (here's the schematic).
As far as I know there are only a few amps out there that were built to do what I want to do - the Magnatone M-15 and this Gibson GA79RVT - which run in stereo and have their own stereo effects circuits.
I'm thinking i can mount the two 1482 amps side-by-side in a new box, and (looking at the schematic) pull one of the 68k resistors from the instrument input of one preamp and add it to the mic input of the other preamp (basically wire it so there are 2 'mic' ins on one preamp, two padded 'instrument' ins on the other). Then pull the aft end of one of the 330k after its volume pot and wire it to the identical spot on the other amp (do this for one lead from each amp).
Then maybe I could install two dual pots to each amp for tone and volume, and add switches to selectively change each preamp between stereo (L/R split) and mono (both sides together). Here's a crude drawing that might help if that all sounds confusing:
Then I think I would have setup capable of accepting two distinct pairs of L/R signals and selectively switch them to mono - one pair per preamp, then split to the power sections -> separate drivers.
Anyone have any thoughts on a more creative way to do this with the 1482's as a basic starting point? I'm open to any/all ideas..

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
