I have a skar rp-3500.10 that stopped producing output. Powers up fine (not protect mode). Opened it up and found this. I am not very experienced with electronics but from what I've researched I think it's an inductor. Is this something I could repair before buying a new amp or in over my head? Any advice I would really appreciate.
I don't have anything on this specific amp but it could be a common clone. Post a good quality photo of the component side of the entire main board and the component side of any driver boards if no one can help.
From what I can see, this is the 12v regulator for the driver ICs. Not many amps use an inductor here. Similar circuits use a 47uH inductor. To find the current, through the inductor, insert a 1 ohm resistor in its place and power the amp up and measure the voltage across the resistor. Order an inductor that can easily pass that current and has relatively low DCR.
If you're not in a hurry, wait a day or so to see if anyone has more definitive information.
