I have a kyocera player that the laser has died and I was wondering if I could install a KSS-240 or something like that. I am not sure the compatibility of all the sony lasers.
The KSS240 is totally different.
You might struggle to get a KSS152 now,

As I know, there are no electrical different between the KSS-152 and the KSS-150A/KSS-210A. The only different there are the not present insert bearings (made of metal) for the KSS-152A-holes (look at the attached pictures and schematic)
Order additional a service manual with KSS-150A/KSS210A for compare and rule out electrical differences (e. g. DCD-810, DCD-820 from Denon)
The different between KSS-150A and KSS-210A also only mechanical; the first uses metal optical block and the second one with plastic (electrically full compatible).
Perhaps it is possible to change or matching the base unit chassis with help from a compact disc player used KSS-150A/210A
The KSS-240A is identical to the KSS-210A regarded the mechanic parameters, but electrical complete an other version (there are integrated preamplifier units by the OPIC resp PDIC). This means, you cannot use it for replace.

There are still a great amount of suppliers for the KSS-152A.
I am looking for a supplier, which can offer a KSS152A in a good quality.
Thank you for an advice.
