and

is already to read several informations.

From SONY's KSS-152A itself exist two different versions and additional there are three compatible optical pick up's:
1) Toshiba TOPH7833 (TOPH-7833)
2) Samsung SOH-OT3 (SOHOT3)
3) Olympus/Mitsubishi TAOHS-MR (TAOHSMR) or TAOHS-BR (TAOHSBR - no images available)
used in ONKYO DX-150 - go to
Onkyo DX-150 zum Leben erwecken ., Hifi-Klassiker - HIFI-FORUM
and also in follow models:
KENWOOD DP-990SG 2 x PCM56P-K – SM5804D Kenwood J91-0341-05 / TAOHS-
KENWOOD DP-1100SG 2 x PCM56P-K – SM5804D Kenwood J91-0341-05 / TAOHS-

No 2) and 3) are hard to find, but both TOPH7833 and KSS152A are not hard to find parts.
Now an important question:
Which of both brands should be preferred?

BTW - follow CD player components used KSS152A (TOPH7833)

I had the misfortune of doing Luxman warranty service when they were owned by Alpine, and can tell you that the laser used in most of their players at that time, which I am pretty darn sure was the Toshiba, were monstrously unreliable. Can't count how many I replaced in just a 3 or 4 year period. Later they changed to the KSS152, but most of the Lux models listed as KSS152 actually started out with the Toshiba, and either got 152's in warranty service or were later production. Can't recall ever seeing the Olympus version anywhere.

I have KSS-152A in my Luxman D-111. It would play CD for about 60 seconds, then it would jump back for about 20 sec. or so, play from that point again, and then keep doing it. I cleaned sled shafts and I think sled is moving free... Focus transistors are getting hot....

Any idea what could it be?

yes, turns out mechanically it's different, kss150 is compatible with kss210 which have rack gear thing on one side.

read link above electrically kss152 is equal to 150, is it possible to take out SOHOT3 laser assembly to kss150/210 ?

thanks

Google provides some suppliers of the diodes itself, if you use the key words "KSS-151A" and "ebay". The showed diodes are also suitable for the most other optical pick up devices from SONY (like KSS152, KSS271, KSS150) and this diodes are successors for the used diodes at those days, the SLD-104.
Here an example found by Google in Germany:
5 piece Sony KSS-151A Laser Lens LD Laser Diode 780nm 3-5mw 5.6mm | eBay
Unfortunately I am not able to find those company, which are able to replace those diode include all necessary mechanical adjustments.
Who can help to find such companies or guys?
