Hello all
Besides bananas, Speakons, springies and TS, what other options are there?
Has anyone come up with something that is more compact package than Speakons and more substantial conductors?

The common XLR/DIN and even speakons are all basically the same type of things in a bit different packages and either large diameters or short plugs. TS and barrels are good amounts of conductors on a slimmer package but pulls out fairly easy
Car audio amps type spades and tunnels are okish except for needing tools
True for the bullets. I do RC on the larger scale side, so familiar with the options there. The XT60-90 types are good plugs, I think Samsung uses something like them for HT speaker connectors. I would use these but would rather something that isn't used for power supply or small signal
XT60 chassis

Substantial in the metal conductor and slim on the total package, that's the search
Binding posts would have to be a flush mount system, but that would mean a huge inverse block like bananas to get fingers in to turn. I would use the TS if it had a lock and if signal and headphones couldn't be accidentally plugged in

Try soldering.
Not kidding.
NOTHING more compact
NOTHING with lower contact resistance, better current carrying capacity, the works.

Perhaps some idea then of the OP's application; space available/current carrying capacity/speed of connection/cable size etc. - something for us to work with, as it were...
PS. What is 'TS'?

Phoenix plug and socket terminals?

Cub Sandwich
That's the first one that I need chassis connectors for the stereo output. I have a number of very compact projects planned. Different power levels to cater for, from 3wrms to 1kw. The issue is that I find the current bunch of connectors a bit on the inelegant side for such small systems. The space is available to fit Speakons, but only as a last resort
TS is the mono headphone type connector (Tip/Sleeve). The stereo one is called TRS (Tip/Ring/Sleeve) and the portable version is known as the mini TRS, what do you guys call them?
I keep coming back to car audio style inline bare wire connectors with the grub screw but would rather have a terminated end on the cable side too

I solder loudspeakers to a cable and lead them out directly to the amp.
No crossover for fullrange drivers with current driven amp needed.

Phone plugs. Amp repairmen love them because when they are pulled out slightly, they short the amp and burn it up.TS is the mono headphone type connector (Tip/Sleeve). The stereo one is called TRS (Tip/Ring/Sleeve) and the portable version is known as the mini TRS, what do you guys call them?
Binder terminals fit both bare wire when screwed down, or dual banana plugs when hookup is temporary. More elegant than bare wire is the spade lug, crimped on with a klein or ideal tool, then pull tested. HH Smith used to be the premium brand. https://www.newark.com/c/test-measurement/test-connectors-ic-test-clips/binding-posts Beryllium copper banana plugs are available for a price.
Binder terminals are not popular among amp vendors because in transit by road bands they are easily bent or broken off. This causes warrenty repairs.

I tried not going into the reasons why I wasn't keen on the current offerings, and just keep it to the elegance of the connection package. Buts yes, the reasons you state are factored into my hesitation on using them, especially on tiny portable systems where they will stick out like the proverbial...Phone plugs. Please see above re the post system. The barrier strip type setup from car audio is what I keep coming back to. But a problem with that, it is not a tool free system, so another last resortBarrier strip or binding post, with a copper ring lug.
How bad are springies really? I know they are found on the cheapest stuff, but the logic seems correct on those. Has anyone come across a more pretentious version of those, a bit showy one maybe?
Thumb screw systems return it to a binding postdunno about compact but the Cardas CPBP is tool-free: https://www.cardas.com/binding-posts
Plugs
These plugs to go with the franken sockets. Following the speaker connector electrical/ferrous issue thread, the metal in both the plugs and sockets are pure copper with gold plating so hoping they will be cool to use. A fitted into custom block should take care of the ergonomic issue

ah, misunderstood.
There are the very descriptively named "tube connectors" that Danny Ritchie of GR Research fame touts and sells: https://gr-research.com/product/electra-cable-tube-connectors/
