Does anybody know of any good suppliers for speaker drivers in Australia? Preferably an online supplier or bricks-and-mortar store in Melbourne.
Cheers,
Tim.

Adire Audio, SEAS, Hypex, Redgum: Acoustic Concepts
ScanSpeak, Vifa, Peerless: WES Components
Focal, Raven, Cabasse, Accuton, Phl, Axon: W.A. Rewind Co.
For xover parts, as above and Jaycar Electronics P/L, Dick Smith Electronics and Altronics (or David Reid).
Soundlabs Group also sell things loudspeaker-wise, but you be the judge on the prices.
Consolidated Edgings is a good place from which to start for veneer.
Takes money away from the local market, but you do get them cheaper from Madisound and PartsExpress... Dunno about the shipping charges though.
HTH 🙂

Air-core inductors, custom made to your spec (mH and DCR) at reasonable prices, from www.equinoxaudio.com.au
For a typical 7" 2 way (woofers, tweeters, XO), shipped from Madisound, shipping costs about US$75-80 (AU$100) via Fedex International Priority (delivery in 3 business days). Perhaps a little less for Fedex Economy, but $100 is very reasonable considering it's about 8.6Kg and goes halfway across the world in 3 business days. (I ordered Wed night and arrived Monday morning!).
According to Parts Express' shopping cart, shipping is slightly more more expensive. I tallied up 19lbs (the same 8.6kg) worth of gear and the estimate came to about US$120. They deliver via UPS, and I'm not sure of the delivery schedule. Perhaps someone else who's ordered from PE can comment?
I'd love to get my hands on some of the RS series Dayton loudspeakers, as well as their speaker cabinets, but shipping these to AU seems silly- it most more to ship them than the cost of the things themselves!
As usual, to minimise duty/GST, make sure the INVOICE of the order is under AU$250. 😉
The AU dollar has been good, the time is ripe!

Hi,
Solen Canada (www.solen.ca) sells a variety of speaker drivers and accessories and they allow one to choose even surface mail and that saves a lot of money - especially with large speakers. Some speaker drivers, however, are somewhat more expensive than those from Madisound.
Cheers,

Parts express has a new policy for international orders. You have spend US$100 or more they only changed it at the end of last week.
Hi tktran. I think everyone agrees that the 2" dome that Jaycar sells locally is the same as the Drayton one in the US. Just different name. Maybe some of their (Jaycar's) others are too.
What has happened at parts express is that any international orders under US$100 will not be accepted it is a new policy that they introduced last week.
