I just acquired a pair of Stage Accompany model 4744 monitors passive and would like to know more about these heavy monitors, must weight north of 40kg each. The only thing I know is that it's a two way monitor and that the drive units are JBL 2203 woofers and the well known SA ribbon tweeter. But have no clue about the rest of the specs, any one?
I have them on the floor at the moment but will make som stands soon to get them up from the floor a bit and might tilt them a bit also, any recommendations regarding easy to make stands with tilt?
Driving them right now with a pioneer vsx-d912 connected to a battery powered chromecast audio (thinking about to buy a chord mojo), the sound is sublime!

Is this the model that you have?

Typically the center of the ribbon tweeter would be located at ear height while sitting. Tweeters like these have limited vertical dispersion above and below the length of the ribbons.

Seems to be the one. Wonder what the number (47) in the beginning stand for on my 4744?
Yes the optimal tweeter height is very obvious now that tried sitting on the floor listening to them.
Thank you Jim for the info.

My speakers are from mid or end of the 80's and I've been thinking even though they are very good the way they are now maybe I could get even better performance by replacing aged xo components. Would the capacitors in the xo need an replacement by now if they never been replaced previously?
When I get the time to remove the woofers from the cabinet I'll take a look at what type and value the capacitors in the xo use.
Do capacitor values in speaker xo degrade much over time or is this a non issue?

Would the value of these kind of caps degrade over time?
The speakers where produced 1989.
I'm not that familiar with passive xo since I mostly used active.
I'm a bit surprised about how many components the xo has (the picture only shows a small part of the xo board).
No values written on the capacitors unfortunately and Stage Accompany do not answer my e-mails.
Probably I just let it be since they sound lovely the way they are.
I also have a new amplifier on the way that will be put up against GedLees old reference amp Pioneer vsx-d912.
The new (soon) arrival is a Sansui AU-999 in mint condition and when my TDA-8932 boards arrive I will give them comparison as well using the Pioneer as pre.

I’ve fooled around with a lot of different speakers since 2016 when I bought the SA4744.
Single driver speakers, esl speakers and a very good small 2-way speaker the INO Audio pr18. All of them made me longing for the sa4744’s again. They are just so dynamic and have a wonderfull mid bass punch and effortless feeling from top to bortom that the other speakers just couldnt get even close to producing.
Anyways I have been thinking of up grading my amp. The amp covers only 80hz up. It’s a Sure Electronics AA-AB32313 2x400 with a MeanWell smps 36v.
Would a MC2 s800 amp be an upgrade that I would notice soundwise?
Allternatives I’m looking at:
- MC2 s800
- PAS 2002PCA
- XTZ EDGE A2-300
- QSC PLX
My system concist of Music streamed from PC or Chrome cast Audio fed to a Topping E30 dac/pre to Golden Age active xo (80hz, 18db Low/High pass) and the half diy shure AA-AB32313 amp MeanWell smps amp combo to SA4744 speakers, sub 80hz is taken care of by dual Dayton 18um22 amped by crown xti 2000.
What are your thoughts and recomendation regarding this amp up grade?
I like the sound of the shure amp but I am a bit concerned about its reliability and safety, allso curious what an amp up grade could bring.
Hope some of you with more amp experience (then me) could shime in.
