Hey guys, pretty sure this has been asked before but where can i buy diy dac kits. The only ones i can find are the grubdac/skeletondac/pupdac. Are there any other vendors that sell diy kits that you have to solder yourself?
Soldering myself is preferred because it cuts costs lol.
I know ebay has kits but i dont know which seller to trust...

In my experience with eBay kits is you have to throw away a majority of the components as they are total junk, but can be made into decent sounding kits. Not the most cost effective solution. I am actually listening to one now as i type as i have literally just finished soldering it together.
I can highly recommend the PupDAC, i built one for use with my portable setup and it quickly replaced my ODAC on my main rig, only downside is its limited to 44/16.

AMB Labs sells two high performance DAC kits:
The Gamma 1 Modular Miniature DAC
The Gamma 2 Compact High Performance DAC
I highly recommend checking these out if you want to build something that is well designed and high quality.

the AMB dacs look good but im really looking for kits with all the components i need included. I feel like id **** up if i have to get all the components separately.
mcandmar, i didnt know the pupdac could only do 16/44. Thats definetely out of the question now. I need at least 24/96

glassjaraudio might have full amb dac kits. email him.
what I suggest is to detach the usb/spdif part from the dac part.
the amb dacs can do 96k (even 192k) via spdif/coax.
the only part you have to worry about is usb/spdif at UAC2. that is not hard, these days, and you can find lots of solutions that support UAC2 and high res audio.
combining usb audio AND the dac seems too integrated for my style. I like being able to swap this or that out and not have to throw the whole thing out.

anyone familiar with the dac kits from diyinhk?

bit perfect volume control is not very bit-perfect 😉 it does digital attenuation and unless its done at a full 32bits (few are) then analog vol control is going to be the better solution.
I hate digital (bit shaving) vol controls. you lose resolution with those. its very rare to find one that does it properly at the pure digital level.

this is the DAC that I'm waiting for:
AMB Laboratories DIY Audio • View topic - ?3 high-resolution DAC development
no idea when it will be released, but the project has definitely started.
and you can be sure it will be a true diy project with full schematics and docs explaining everything you'll need to build and support it. firmware will be open-source, too (which you will never find from chinese products, sad to say).
