Tape to hold wires against PCB

I'm working on a Sony Walkman that came from the factory with various sections of wire held to the PCB with tape. Some of this mystery tape has lost its "stick" after all of these years and needs to be replaced. It has almost like a fabric outer side. Does anyone know what would have been used here or have suggestions for a substitute?

(Not my picture, but it's the same model.)

It does sort of look like gaffer's tape, however, when you see it in person, you can tell that it's thinner (practically see-through). The other issue is that neither gaffer's or painter's tape have any documented electrical properties that would make me confident using them.

I think it a version of this
Acetate Cloth, Adhesive Tape No.570F
· Flexible acetate cloth clings easily to uneven surfaces, and provides good workability.
· Good compatibility with resins and varnishes, exhibiting stable adhesive strength.
· UL certified product (File No. E56086). UL510 Flame retardant.
[Applications]
· For binding wire harnesses.
· For insulation and anchoring of electronic components.

Gaffers tape, scotch tape, electrical tape, glass fiber tape, what else is in my drawer? MASking tape. None of them offer any electrical conductivity to threaten a 9v battery operated circuit board.

I love 3M 27 for such.

Be aware that „painter tape“ (or masking tape, which is made of paper) does degrade relatively quick—the glue dryes out and after a while it becomes nearly impossible to remove it.
I‘d recommend to not using it for anything other than masking.

Great suggestions. Depending on what I can source locally, I'll go with the acetate cloth or 3M 27. If I can't find either of those, I may just dab a little super glue on the back of the raised portions of the existing tape and call it good.

I remember when Sony used that tape by the mile. It sure is not gaffer tape. It always reminded me of 3M's fancy acetate/rayon surgical tape, but made black.

However 3M makes way too many tapes. And you are not fussy like a surgeon. I guess the next step is a large drugstore and fondle all the fancy bandaging tapes.
