TDA2030 replacement for guitar amp

Hello,
I have an old Rocktron guitar amp with a shorted TDA2030.
I can't find any TDA2030's locally and am hesitant to buy them online because of all the counterfeiting issues with Chinese suppliers.
Would an LM1875 be a drop-in replacement for this amp? I can get them locally and I know they will be authentic.
I know it will function, but should I expect any output changes using this IC without changing any of the supply voltage, etc...

Thanks in advance,
Thom

(I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, this is my first post and it looked like the most appropriate spot)

One of the characteristics of TDA2030 and similar automotive chipamps is the high but sometimes sweet distortion compared to newer or higher performance types like LM1875. I wouldn't use TDA2030 for hifi but in a guitar amp or practice amp, it could be just the ticket and may be worth considering a punt on the cheap copies - just not the cheapest.

There is also original TDA2050 which is still available from a few suppliers but as usual, don't deal with Chinese copy sources unless you have inside info. on the seller's particular part quality. Ebay has other traders too but if you shop by lowest prices, you only get what you pay for.

Hi Thom
I'm having similar issues sourcing a reasonably priced TDA 2030. many counterfeits are available cheaply from chinese sellers but i wonder how do these sound compared to a NOS unit (new old stock)?
Thanks

LM1875 is same pinout and has better specs, so use it.

If you mail order a TDA2030, do so from an established US supplier such as Mouser or Digikey or, say,Farnell if in Europe and you will have no problem with fakes.
