Test Equipment for Valve Amplifier Building

Dear All,

First of all let me wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I wanted to field a question regarding test equipment for building Valve amplifiers.
I currently already own a Gould OS300 20Mhz Oscilloscope, Fluke IV DMM, AVO 8 Meter.

So my question is does anyone have any advice on what other test equipment I should purchase for my work bench?

You can always get some freebie PC based AF generators online.
You already have more gear than most for building tube amps. REMEMBER, all high voltage protocols apply when testing your tube amp. Just one moment of inattentiveness can put you on the floor, frothing at the mouth, not breathing..with a stopped heart.......OK?? Peace.

Might be worth buying a good quality fixed x100 scope probe.

And some 1000V rated rubber gloves !

The Technician that came to install the recorder on my Mains Supply had and used, 6000V rated gloves.

a "dim bulb tester"(lamp limiter) is always handy to have around for building or servicing.

 

[Max Headroom]

Cheap dumpster loudspeakers.
Suitable dummy load resistors....or loudspeaker load simulator network.
Variac.
A decent usb outboard soundcard is very useful for testing, and measurement...lot's of free audio testing software available.
