It's time we worried about important things. How is the best gin & tonic made? My offering:
Best quality gin: Bombay Sapphire, and it must be kept in the freezer - along with the glasses.
Schweppes tonic water - freshly opened.
One finger of gin, then add juice of a quarter of a lime, then four or five fingers of tonic. If you add ice, it must be freshly frozen ice.

Ultimate refreshment
I cannot disagree, except to ask for mine in a tall glass.
This is the perfect recipe for a hot afternoon, sitting in the sun (N Europe) or shade (S Europe)....🙂

My vote is for Tanqueray gin and Canada Dry tonic water. Along with the lime juice, I like to add a drop of the oil from the peel.
As for a glass, I usually just drink it from the pitcher.
But what do I know, I'm a beer drinker😀

Has it all right, except for the gin, should be Tanqueray 10.
And for glass, well whats the bigest one you have? 😀

In the interests of science, I have been selflessly researching the subject this evening. I will take up the suggestion of a tall glass, but my shopping expedition will be accompanied by an Australian stubby jacket. It won't be a case of the glass slipper fitting, more, if the glass slips into the jacket, then that's the glass for me.
What's Tanqueray 10? I rate Tanqueray ordinaire perhaps a little lower than Bombay Sapphire, but what's this "10"? Oh, and how do you get the oil from the peel?

Actually you really don't get a drop as such but if you remove the pulp from the peel and bend the skin over, exposing the outside, while holding it over the glass you can see a bit of a spritz come out when you squeeze it tight. The oil is pungent. It's also explosive. If you happen to miss the glass with your spritz, make sure you're not near an open flame.
The other way is to shave off a few little bits of the rind and pop it in the pitcher while stirring or shaking. Shaking being the tougher method as the contents tend to exit from the top. 2nd pitcher this become more obvious.
Anyway, back to my beer

OK, here we go...
In a 6" highball glass:
3 fingers Tanqueray, 4 fingers Schweppes or Waitrose Tonic water,( kept under ice), 2 ice cubes, slice of lemon or lime to taste. Rub another slice around the top of the glass for a first citrus hit.
Oh, and most importantly of all, good company! 😉

Maybe it's 10 times better?
mmm, Tanqueray 10...
I really like this gin, although I haven't had it in a gin and tonic yet. However, it makes an amazingly good martini.
That being said, I like my G&T with lemon vs lime. (I also prefer lemon peel to olives in my martinis, but I digress...). I usually use Schweppes Tonic, and I filter the water I use to make ice cubes. And the gin bottle is always in the freezer, since I like my martinis really cold.
I like my beer, but sometimes, after a really brutal day, you just need something stronger than beer.
Cheers,

LOL!
Beer is a playground, not a prison
🙂
Sometimes, you just need strong medicine. Nothing takes the edge off of a really bad day like a martini. Or maybe a huge Barleywine

Uh oh I feel the poet coming out in me. Well, a limerick anyway.
There is something I feel, I want as mine
after work, after play or when I dine
You see it's with a beer
That I wish to raise a cheer
'cause nothing so fine as a dark barleywine
I'll read this one to the inmates at "lock down" tonight.
Cheers

Homebrew is the best
Kegging makes it much better
Never a dry tap
