Some of you may be aware that Thiel Audio went out of business and recently had their bankruptcy auction. I ended up purchasing some of their SmartSub 1.12 plate amps. Apparently they have some serious DSP in them but I can't seem to find the software anywhere. And I'm no where near being able to reverse engineer that 🙂 I spoke with Mr. Gillum who used to work for Thiel but he doesn't have any leads. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
Sort of?
I was able to download the computer program but it is not the installer file and had been previously installed. I'm not a software engineer so I can't put Humpty back together. Guess I'm stuck. I ended up building and selling one of them with the customer understanding there was no DSP control. Sounded incredible, but not worth the $5,000 MSRP. I have 2 more of the sub amps but 1 of them is set to the wrong input level and the switch is snapped off, and the other I think switches off automatically after a few minutes every time. Maybe its time I actually learn some electronics?
